Yvonne Kirkels

Yvonne is a Ph.D. candidate at the faculty of Business Management and Engineering, Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven and a visiting Ph.D. candidate at the department of Innovation Technology Entrepreneurship & Marketing, faculty of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences, Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands. Her Ph.D. project focuses on brokers within the network of small- and medium-sized enterprises across design and high-tech industries in Southeast Netherlands. Intermediaries are seen as important for small- and medium-sized firms who want to explore and exploit opportunities beyond their own sector. Brokers can act as intermediaries who integrate individual creaticity of multiple actors and co-develop new business. The project's purpose is to provide insights in which factors make brokers so valuable.

Yvonne obtained her master's degree in International Business (field of Innovation Management) at the University of Maastricht. Besides her Ph.D. project, Yvonne is involved in teaching and mentoring in the field of marketing and innovation. Yvonne worked several years in the fields of organization, marketing and sales before starting her Ph.D. project in 2005 under supervision of prof.dr. G.M. Duysters.
